In a steady, upward motion, pull the tick until it releases its hold. Be careful not to squeeze the tick's body. Don't use your fingers or a match. This could cause the tick to burrow its head into the skin. Don't crush the tick with your fingers. Don't use petroleum jelly or fingernail polish because they won't kill the tick. After removing the tick, consult your doctor and clean the affected area with Bactine® to fight infection and relieve the pain. |
